"Those Christmas Lights, light up the street" Coldplay lyrics

A tribute...

For all of the women who take their cell phone and home phone to the shower in case your husband calls, I take my hat off for you.

For all of the spouses/girlfriends/mothers who give their soldiers time zone to a stranger when asked the time, I salute you.

For all of the wives that have cold toes when they go to bed because their soldier's toes are not there to warm them up, I pay homage to you.

For any one who has felt grief of lost life deep in their bones, my heart aches for you.

For any one that is asked if your life is like the show "Army Wives," I roll my eyes with you.

For any family member that misses Christmas, Anniversaries, Birthdays, First steps without the presence of your soldier, I acknowledge you.

For every spouse that fights back tears at the sight of closet filled with civilian clothes that haven't been touched in 300 days, I cry with you.

For every wife who gets nauseous when the doorbell rings, I welcome you into my home.

I know I am not the first wife to feel these emotions or take part in the crazy behaviors, but I sure feel a sense of relief that I am not the only one! I pay tribute to YOU this Christmas! Thank you!

  1. And I take my hat off, salute, pay homage, endure heart ache, roll my eyes, acknowledge, cry, and Welcome YOU into OUR home any time. Merry Christmas, Kathryn. P.S. Tears...again... I think someone (me) is beginning to feel the holiday loneliness and a wee bit of sadness! Love YOU!

  2. awe, what a beautiful comment. im right there with you girl! :) your fb comment about a seat at the table being empty really got to me this week! at least we are in it together!

  3. I am right there with you! I completely agree with everything you said. It doesn't feel like Christmas to me. My phone is always glued to my hand. I'm thinking of you during this holiday season!

  4. What you have accomplished through text and photographs is a beautiful and thoughtful tribute to Military spouses. Thank you and Merry Christmas!

  5. What a beautiful post. It was this time last year that I was saying goodbye, now I will soon be saying hello.

I was surprised by all of the emotions that I experienced during that time. I had no idea how strong military spouses need to be. I have such a deep respect for all who serve and their families.

My heart is with you, stay strong.

  6. Hello! =) New follower here. I just read this post today... I love it!! I'm pretty sure if I had read this when you posted it, I would have been in tears. My husband is deployed and even though we celebrated Christmas together (2 weeks early), the holidays were still rough for me.
