Thank a Veteran and The Hug Lady!

Veteran's Day is today. The 11th Day of the 11th month and it's almost 11 am. I would like to personally thank all the vets who served and to the men and women who are still serving. If the military is close to your heart, please thank a veteran. 

This woman, known as The Hug Lady, welcomes home soldiers and their families at the Atlanta Airport. I want to be her! If everyone recognized them in their daily life, not just at the airport, and not just on Veteran's Day, Memorial Day, and Armed Forces Day, we would have a stronger America... at least I think! People who are not directly involved with the military, need to remember how much the armed forces sacrifice and do for YOU!  God Bless!

Fallen Soldier and Friend

Although death is a part of life, it's never easy. We hear about the tragic loss of too many soldiers everyday. When you knew the person personally, it changes things. I received the worse news about a fellow FA school gradate this weekend. 1LT Eric Yates was killed by an IED after insurgents attacked his unit in Afghanistan September 18, 2010. He was 26 years old. He was an ROTC graduate of Western Kentucky University. He was a quiet man, but served his country with pride. Please pray for his family and his soldiers with Bravo Company, 1st Battalion, 502nd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) Fort Campbell, KY.

It was the first time (and I pray the last) that I will have to tell my husband that news.

We remember...

This video is a tribute to 9/11. Although it was banned, apparently it is still allowed on youtube. Today, just like everyday for most of our military families, we remember that horrible morning day.

Below are some interesting stories taken from Divine Child's "Infant" from August 8, 2010.

As you might remember, the head of a company survived 9/11 because his son started kindergarten.
Another fellow was alive because it was his turn to bring donuts.
One woman was late because her alarm clock didn't go off in time.
On was late because of being stuck on the NJ Turnpike because of an auto accident.
One of them missed his bus.
One spilled food on her clothes and had to take time to change.
One's car wouldn't start.
One couldn't get a taxi.

The one that struck me was the man who put on a new pair of shoes that morning, took the various means to get to work, but before he got there, he developed a blister on his foot. He stopped at the drugstore to buy a band-aid. That is why he is alive today.

Now when I am stuck in traffic, miss the elevator, turn back to answer a ringing telephone, All the little things that annoy me, I think to myself, this is exactly where God wants me to be at this very moment.
Next time your morning seems to be going wrong, you can't seem to find the car keys, you hit every traffic light, don't get mad or furstrated; it may be just that God is at work watching over you.

Happy Memorial Day!

Today is the day to remember.... remember the past, present and future soldiers. Being a military family we are thankful for every sacrifice. Today isn't just a day off from work or school. This day is to honor those who fight for our country to be free and safe. I told Aaron Memorial Day began after the civil war. He couldn't believe it had been going on for that long. It wasn't always called that, but today most people associate it with a day off work or when the pool opens. Congress hoped to encourage Americans, especially the young, to take a sixty second moment of silence at 3pm on Memorial Day to remember all of those fallen soldiers. I also think it's important to remember how thankful we should be of living in this country. Please remember with us!

Happy Armed Forces Day!

Good Afternoon everyone!

Today, May 15, is Armed Forces Day. Harriet S. Truman was the first to celebrate this day on May 20, 1950. The motto is "United in Strength." It is intended for a day to honor all of the men and women in every branch of the military. Since we have such a great ARMY family, I wanted to remind you of today. LT sometimes thinks what he does in Korea might not matter here at home. I want him to know how much we are all proud of him and what he does for our country. When we are in our warm beds at night we know we have him and all of our soldiers in uniform to thank. You keep us safe!
