Sunday

The more things change, the more things change!

It's pretty wild how the last three months have flown by, but also took forever! It's like life is an oxymoron. I'm not to sure? Someone want to explain it to me?

I am currently preparing to drive our pups and my wounded husband to Michigan and then back to Walter Reed. Charlie needs to have his tail partially amputated. He damaged it by wagging his tail to hard against the cage. The vet tells us that it's very common and it's called "happy tail." The tip is showing part of his bone. I feel terrible - but there is no more boarding these dogs during Easter Vacation. Charlie is too big and they must have had him and Lucy in too small of a kennel. I need to find an amazing Pet Sitter who is bonded and licensed.

My husband will finally be able to walk next week!! Three months of non weight bearing takes a toll on someone and a marriage. We hope the doctors and the WTU (Warrior Transition Unit) gives us the OK to come back to our post to rehabilitate. Hopefully, we will be as good as new after some much needed walking... and running.

Mans Best Friend Finding IED's!

Dogs are more then a companion. They save our country billions of dollars and not to mention our husbands and friends from harm. There have been bomb squad dogs for awhile, however, these dogs attend a 14 week course that costs the government 50 thousand dollars to train and hunt out IED's.

If you need help, Charlie can do it! Take a look at this video.

Poor little pup

It's depressing to look at the little fella with his adorable puppy eyes look at you leave the house for three weeks...especially when he thought he was going. I hope he knows we will be back and headed to our new home together so soon! Luckily, he is with his grand parents and not at a boarding place. He will get spoiled.

This begins our next chapter in our adventure of our marriage. Airborne school. Three weeks. Three phases. Five jumps. One pretty sweet patch.

Hooah!

Think Spring!

Gosh, I cannot wait for spring to get here already!!! This weekend, Michigan and in Korea were blessed with sunshiny weather. It's nice to get out of the winter funk.

I crawled up in my parents garage to take down my mother's old bike. I currently am without a bike and I do not think my mother has rode her's in a couple years. I thought it was a perfect day for a bike ride with Charlie...although we had to maneuver around some snow. It was his first bike ride. He was a little scared the bike was going to attack him, but after he understood what we were doing, he couldn't get enough. I am sure this summer we will be biking quite a bit! I think everyone in America should get a dog like Charlie. You will never gain weight with him! I also entered Charlie into two pet photo contests. Click here to vote!!

While we went for a light bike ride, LT was ruck sack marching thirteen plus miles. What a workout! I know he was sore. The gold bond powder on the feet did not prevent the blisters! OUCH!  He is in the army, not the boy scouts! His feet will heal. He has to prepare for Ranger School! He is doing such an amazing job that his Battalion Commander asked him to stay another year! He is not staying, but he is going to continue to keep up the good work.

There is still no word on our next duty location, but we should hear in March or April. We are still hoping for Fort Drum, NY. Keep your fingers crossed. I know Charlie would enjoy it there...especially with another brother/sister accompanying him.

A couple of our army friends received their deployment schedules and are in the training process before they leave later this summer for A-stan and Iraq. Please keep them and their families in your prayers. .

Think Spring Everyone!!

Happy Valentine's Day

Some famous poems on love can help inspire you today to reach out and LOVE someone! We should do this everyday!

I love you without knowing how, or when, or from where.
I love you straightforwardly, without complexities or pride;
so I love you because I know no other way
than this: where I does not exist nor you,
so close that your hand on my chest is my hand,
so close that your eyes close as I fall asleep. ~Pablo Neruda

If you would like to know a little history, here is a link to explain the history of valentine's day. (It's not just a hallmark card day!)

Charlie wishes you a Happy Valentine's Day

Charlie and his Bones

It's a little graphic, but Charlie was given a rib bone from his Grandpa Height. Unfortunately, Charlie was so excited about it he swallowed a piece so dense, sharp and large that it wouldn't digest. It had to be surgically removed from his stomach. However, once they got in their, Charlie already digested it. He did get some stitches. Dr. Caputo and Friends really took care of us. We are so thankful for them. Charlie will be off the bones for awhile...maybe a rawhide now and again though!??

When we had to leave the house, he had to wear the funnel so he wouldn't lick his stitches.

Today, he is good as new! Here he is playing with his good pal Eddie!
